On May 7th, 2024, we got a nice new very good quality Simonis 860 new wool felt for our Pool Table. Here are some pictures of the installation process.
Removing the pockets and side rails.
Here are the six pockets, sitting on the counter. First off, last on.
The rails are on the floor, and the old cloth is still coming off
They leveled the table. Part of this process was using a heating iron to melt the beeswax connecting the three pieces of ground slate that make up the pool table.
Leveling the table was a very careful, slow process. But the result is a dead flat table, which lets the pool balls run true.
Here the installer is using a heating iron to make the beeswax connection between the three pieces of slate dead flat. This is both art and craftmanship.
Getting everything just right.
Now we are getting to the exciting part, where we get our new cloth installed. Again, part art and part craftmanship.
Getting the cloth installed correctly with the correct tension in all directions is again art and craftmanship.
This is the last picture I took during the installation. We noticed with some interest that the rails did NOT go back on in exactly the same place they came off. But they seem to be completely interchangeable, the table plays the same either way. This installation has given us a wonderful pool table that all the players enjoy every day!
